Music That Takes Me Places

THE RADIO DEPT., RUNNING OUT OF LOVE

On Running Out of Love, The Radio Dept. sharpen their pop sensibilities into protest, pairing bright melodies with biting discontent. Synths pulse and glide over drum machines, cloaking the band’s frustration with Sweden’s political direction and the global rise of authoritarianism, in shimmering textures. It’s dreamy, but not escapist. Instead, the contrast becomes a kind of rebellion: beautiful surfaces housing ugly truths. In that tension, the album finds its pulse.
