Haylie Davis is a singer-songwriter from Sonoma County, California. After performing as part of the duo Will & Haylie and later under the name Lady Apple Tree, Davis began releasing music under her own name. Over the course of three years, she worked on her debut album, Wandering Star, recording in Los Angeles at Valentine Recording Studios and the home studio Love Magnet, often working with limited resources while supporting herself as a waitress.
“Classic songwriting will never go out of style. And that’s something I will always strive toward.” -Haylie Davis-
On Wandering Star, Davis draws from the Laurel Canyon sounds of the early 1970s, blending folk-pop and Americana. As her songs move through themes of longing, doubt, and direction, Davis draws influence from artists like Emmylou Harris, Linda Perhacs, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter, and Joni Mitchell. There is something wonderfully inviting about Wandering Star. Davis is a throwback to another time, with her music reflecting the classic female songwriters of the Laurel Canyon era. It’s an album that feels timeless.
