EMILY NENNI, MOVIN' SHOES

Emily Nenni is a California born, Nashville based country artist who began performing regularly after moving to Tennessee and became part of the city’s Lower Broadway and honky tonk circuit. Her early work led into On the Ranch, released in 2022, which drew from time spent working at a ranch in Colorado. She followed it with Drive & Cry in 2024, an album shaped by touring, long drives, and the routines of a working musician.

On Nenni’s new album, Movin’ Shoes, she looks at how people communicate with each other and with themselves. This idea comes through in the title track’s call to dress and dance on your own terms, and in “Livin’ in Shame,” where self reflection sharpens into something more direct. Across the album, Nenni keeps things loose and rhythmic with warm keys, pedal steel guitar, and steady grooves as she pulls from honky tonk, soul, southern rock, and outlaw country. It is an album I had been looking forward to hearing for months, and it delivers.
