VILDE BYE, NEVER NOTHING

I stumbled upon Vilde Bye’s new album, Never Nothing, almost by accident, and from the first note, her voice held me. It is rich, intimate, and full of subtle nuance. Without knowing much about her, I found myself pulled in by both her voice and her songs.

Vilde Bye Martinsen is a young singer songwriter from Tromsø, Norway. She first drew notice at home with a self titled EP in 2022, then followed it with her debut album, Colder, in 2024. She now returns with Never Nothing. Across its eight original songs and her cover of Elliott Smith’s “Between the Bars,” Bye blends folk, country, and Americana textures with a light touch and an easy, unhurried feel. Her voice makes even the quietest moments feel special, and there is something in her delivery that lingers.
