MIDNIGHT RODEO, CHAOS ERA

Midnight Rodeo

Midnight Rodeo is a band with a short but fast-moving history. Formed in Nottingham just over three years ago, the five-piece quickly caught attention and signed with Fat Cat Records after submitting a pair of early demos. From there, relentless touring shaped them into a tight live unit. That time on the road, combined with creative retreats and isolated recording sessions, helped form the strong group dynamic they now point to as central to how they write and perform.

Their debut album, Chaos Era, arrives just three years in. Recorded over ten days in a rural Welsh studio, the sessions were long, often stretching to 16 hours, and tracked live using vintage analog gear. The goal was to capture their raw, natural sound without digital interference.

Musically, the album draws from 1960s psychedelia, 1970s pop, and surf, while resisting the pull of any single genre. Bass lines carry melody, drums act as hooks, and guitar riffs nod to West Coast psych. It’s a mix of eras and styles, but the band avoids having it all feels borrowed or imitative. The result is an album that lands like a transmission from another decade...not of this time, but familiar none the less.
