After 19 years, Boy George reunited with the rest of his band Culture Club. Life brings a polished pop sound colored by funk, gospel, and Caribbean influences, with songs that carry themes of resilience and self-reflection. George’s voice is weathered but expressive, sitting front and center over arrangements that balance bright hooks with a steady rhythmic pulse. The album looks back and forward at once, drawing on the band’s history while proving they still have something to say. It’s a fantastic record, one I’m thoroughly enjoying.
